JULY 2010

Prayers Making a Difference |
Morning: North American Missionary GREG FRIZZELL is the Prayer
and Spiritual Awakening Specialist for the Baptist General
Convention of Oklahoma. His responsibilities include
conducting prayer events for church and association-wide
prayer conferences, leading associational training meetings, and
advising with prayer ministries in Oklahoma and throughout
the United States. Our prayers make a difference, and so does
our commitment to reaching people through CP. Pray for Greg
and SANDRA to remain faithful to their call as they model a
prayer lifestyle to others. Also, remember to include in your
prayers the other 5,000 plus North American missionaries who
are serving across the country.

Sacrificial Lamb |
Evening: A live lamb that became part of a picnic for 11 Bedouin young
men also served as the representation of the Sacrificial Lamb for
JACK CLARK as he explained that Christ’s sacrifice provides
the certainty that we can live with God forever. Jack and his
wife, SUSAN, do community development work and pediatric
physical therapy among the Beduoin in Northern Africa. The
Clarks strive to reach people in remote, hard-to-reach places.
“We have witnessed several devout Muslims begin to question
what they have been taught and ask deep questions about ‘the
Way, the Truth and the Life,’” said Jack. Our love for people
and commitment to CP is planting seeds in the hearts of the
people living in Northern Africa. Please pray for more
opportunities to share the love of Jesus in a village that is
spiritually dark and in need of God’s light.
STATEMENT:The Declaration of Independence asserted our national freedom.
Freedom from the temptation to be selfish is won by choosing to be generous in giving. |

Church Planters in Marseille, France |
Morning: KEITH and KRISTEN HOUSTON are church planters
focused on young adults in Marseille, France, which is a center
for filmmaking. Because Kristen and others on their team have
backgrounds in filmmaking, they have been able to enter that
community and share their faith through friendships made in
the process of filming a documentary. Meanwhile, Keith and
others have focused on helping students at several universities
there improve their English. Recently, some journeymen and
International Service Corps workers were able to help with
English Conversation Clubs, resulting in at least one Bible
study, and one journeyman recently led an English student to
Christ! God is using our commitment to putting love in action
through CP to creatively share the Gospel throughout France.
Pray for the Houstons and ask God to open more doors for
them to share their faith.

Dakota Baptist Convention |
Evening: As North American missionary and strengthening ministry
team leader for the Dakota Baptist Convention, MYRON
GRUENEICH serves by equipping pastors, lay leaders, and
churches and assisting them in strengthening their ministries.
Our participation in the Cooperative Program empowers
Myron and his wife, KATHY, to impact communities by
teaching the churches how to expand their abilities to share
Christ beyond the church walls. Pray for Myron and Kathy as
they work with churches to reach unbelievers in North and
South Dakota.
STATEMENT: Commitments to God are very important. Unless we consciously reaffirm them, we sometimes forget them.
Let us reaffirm our commitments to grow in the “grace of giving.” |

Assisting Churches in Montana |
Morning: North American missionary MARK LANGLEY is the
director of evangelism and church strengthening for the
Montana Southern Baptist Convention. He assists the 130
churches in Montana to become more effective at reaching
their communities for Christ. His desire is to lead churches to
see the needs beyond their church walls and to develop
ministries to share Christ with their communities. Our
commitment to sharing Christ across North America through
the Cooperative Program (CP) enables Mark and
LAURETTA Langley to help churches fulfill the Great
Commandment and the Great Commission. Add Mark and
Lauretta to your prayer list this week.
STATEMENT: Common goals can often bring a group of people together. Reaching the lost is our common goal as Christians.
Our united growth in giving is needed to help achieve this goal.

When One Street Is Done |
Evening: REX and SANDY ANDREWS were reassigned to work with a
people group in Northern Africa. They had focused on an Arab
people in a large city until the government unexpectedly
rejected their visa and gave them only a few days to leave the
country. National believers came to say goodbye. One young
man, a fairly new Christian, said, “We are not to be sad. God is
good. You are like the men during the summer heat who walk
in the street [to provide water]. When one street is done, they
move to the next. You have given us a drink; now it is time for
you to go to others who are thirsty.” It’s amazing the doors God
is opening around the world, thanks in part to our obedience to
Him and our commitment to making a difference through CP.
Pray for the Andrews as they move to another street. Luke 24:47

Live Like A Missionary |
Morning: In Lexington County, South Carolina, at least 70 percent of the
population does not attend church on any given Sunday.
Though many residents claim to have a religious affiliation,
most do not have a personal relationship with Christ. To reach
those unbelievers, North American missionary DAVID LEE
seeks to help every believer in the Lexington Baptist Association
to live like a missionary. Our prayers and our gifts through the
Cooperative Program (CP) are multiplying David and
SUZANNE’s ministry as they share God’s message of salvation
and train others to seize opportunities to do the same in their
own neighborhoods. David and Suzanne appreciate you and
your prayers.

Building Bridges |
Evening: CHRIS and CATHIE SMITH build bridges with the people
of Extremadura, Spain, through sports, activities with the
children’s school, and English classes. Less than one percent of
the city’s population is known to be born-again Christians.
Since the community is resistant to organized religion, the
heart of the Smith’s ministry seeks to demonstrate that
Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. Preparation for a
new church is under way, thanks to your belief in and support
through the Cooperative Program (CP). Pray for this new
church plant, and pray for Cathie as she recovers from stage
III melanoma.
STATEMENT: Christian giving is always in proportion to one’s income. That means our giving is measured by the percent of income we keep to
spend on ourselves rather than the percent of income we give.

Church Planting Goals in Cleveland, Ohio |
Morning: KEVIN LITCHFIELD serves as the area missionary for
Cleveland, Ohio. His role is to serve and resource the local
churches of the Greater Cleveland Baptist Association and plant
new churches. Kevin’s greatest desire is to see the city of
Cleveland transformed for Christ by planting a strong, healthy
church in all 21 wards of the city. We can help make this a
reality by praying and by participating in the Cooperative
Program and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. This week,
please join North American missionaries, Kevin and PENNY
Litchfield, in praying that the Good News will saturate every
inch of their city.
1 Timothy 5:17-18 The elders who are good leaders should be considered worthy of an ample honorarium, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says:
You must not muzzle an ox that is threshing grain, and,
The laborer is worthy of his wages.

Following the Way of Isaa |
Evening: DON and JANA STELZER serve in West Africa among the
Futa Toro Fulani of the Jeri people group. The Stelzers are in
language study and have African names — Demba and Jeynaba
Soh. Don is using his veterinary training to care for the Fulani’s
most prized possession, their animals. Neighborhood children are
drawn to their house because of their children, Seth, Noah, and
Abigail, their soccer ball, and their cold water. The Stelzers play
Bible stories on cassette tapes for the children, and since they are
still in language study, the cassettes have greatly aided their
ability to share in the Fulani’s heart language and show them
how to “follow the way of Isaa.” There are over 5,600 other
international missionaries on the field who need our prayers and
our faithful support through the Cooperative Program. Pray for
the Stelzers as they serve the Lord and the people of West Africa.
STATEMENT: Giving to support those who have been called to a full-time Christian vocation is a biblical principle.
Pastors and staff, denominational workers, evangelists, and missionaries extend our ministries when we give.
